Earth Day

It was the 22nd of April 1970 when millions of Americans demonstrated asking for measures and respect for the environment. In memory of that first riot 22nd of  April concecrated as the Earth Day .

Over a billion of citizens will participate in the demonstations that have been scheduled for one purpose: Less talking , more acting!!!
The planet today is facing huge problems like hunger , environmental breakdown , massive immigration ,drought ..

Over the 30 last years the planet has lost rainforests of the size of Europe! 16% of the mammals is in danger of extinction. In Europe this percentage reaches 42% , while only the 8% of the mammals' population rises. Moreover Europe during the second half  of the last century  has lost its 50% of  its water parks and agricultural areas ,while at the same time many of its marine ecosystems have been degraded - the last 15 years it is estimated that mediterranean waters have been "enhanced" with 55.000 tons of petrol. Over and above , researchers of the Prinston University and the american WWF (published paper "journal of mammalogy) found out that the 35% of mammals over 20 kilos has lost half of its population approximatelly.

Conclusion:  Survival and quality of  life is feasible through orthological use of  our resources and friendly-to-the-environment cultivation of the earth so as the circumstances will grow for a viable planet for all of us.

I truly think there are too much of us on this planet already. There are some ways to make things better for all of us, but they are difficult and some might find the methods inhuman/unethical. One is the controlling of the birth rate. If all people would settle for one biological child, in a hundred years there would be one billion people on earth. That's six times less than what's now, and the earth could support that.

Of course, the level of technology is evolving rapidly and perhaps the upcoming fusion energy will support larger amount of humans (yet there are people who protest fusion power? Amazing). Though, solar power could work too, but it's way too expensive to work on a larger scale, no one would sponsor it.

The food problem is a tough one. By estimations, if all people seized to eat meat, the nutrition this would provide could feed all the people on earth. Meat production uses ten times more energy, which means 90% of the energy that is fed to the cattle is lost in the process, just to make something that tastes a bit better (or so some say).

My mother is an organic food enthusiast, and a doctor in biology. I recall her saying that if all food production was turned to the organic method, that would also feed many more mouths, since the enhanced production tends to spoil the soil. I'm not certain of this, though.

A new world order could work also. A totally different kind of world order, where balanced communism would reign, a righteous non-human (our robot overlord) dictator ruled and children would be brainwashed into "good" people. To transmute our current system into this would mean an immense movement of some sort. This will never happen of course and I am sadly very aware of it.

Indeed human reproduces in a rate that overwhelms the ability of Mother nature to preserve us all. This might not be as obvious yet as the greatness of this issue requires.

I also find solutions in alternative sources of energy. You mentioned fusion above , if humans achieve controlled fusion of Hydrogen ( a procedure that actually takes place only in the Sun's core)that would be a great step. But i dont see that coming soon.At least not as long as the biggest laboratory in Europe , in the world if you will, CERN, is looking for the Higgs particle (or the so called God's particle) by accelerating hadrons and other lil pieces of matter.

But there is also wind's energy ,biomass ,photovoltaic ,hydrogen cells etc. There are already few and quite affortable types of energy discovered. Lately laz informed me that Sweeden (maybe ur country as well) uses China's wastes for producing energy.

Of course not all countries are wealthy enough to have technologies as such mentioned , but still there are quite enough to make this happen. However as long as some countries controll the world by dominating the petrol's trade ,green energies will be left aside for a few years .

About birth rate , personally i dont find it cruel ,at least not anymore , to restrict the amount of children into 2 ,the most.Think about other mammals. They give birth to 4-5 cabs but most of them dont survive. It is all about odds.Only human has achieved to turn the odds by his side , survival wise. And meat consumption should also be restricted. (Thank god chinese eat rice :D )We can live without meat , you talked about nutricion but you forget the toxins it contains .Some late research concludes to the fact that high meat consumption gives rise to early haert problems cuz of the toxins , that are produced when the animal is killed.

About organic method am not sure if i understand exactly what you mean by that. Are you referring to biologically mutant food? Cuz i ve seen a documentary about salmons .A mutant salmon feeds 3-5 africans approximately , it weighs up to 10 kilos !!!Thats about twice, and more ,bigger than the normal salmon.

A new world order could rise if each one of us started to make a change.By respecting ourselves, our fellows and nature .And for making that step we first need better information and deep self-awareness.Maybe also some massive revolution ?.. No more brainwash and nailing in front of happiness's substitutes.

"if you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make the change"

I can see that you are a very wise person. No offense (quite possibly only the opposite) meant when I say that not many women wish to engage in such conversations about the state of the world today and our uncertain future. Most of what I've experienced, women seem content on how the world rests right now, or worry their head on about lesser problems (eh, maybe we should too, since we'll only lose our sleep by being too concerned). I dont know what has made me this way, but it's hard to be happy while so many things are so wrong.

About fusion, you seem to know a lot of this. I was in the impression that experimental fusion power plants are already working (a couple, but still), and they only estimate to have a little path to walk still to a stable energy production that will best all of the current fission plants. Wind / Hydroelectric power are also very, very expensive when compared to atomic.

Hmm... You're probably right about the green energies, and some biased research supported by the fossil fuel stockholders probably make green energy seem unattainable and too expensive. By some estimations, solar pads that cover 1% of the earth's surface could provide all the energy the world requires right now. Is this impossible? You gotta ask those American swines who want to make this look impossible to further their own, greedy agendas.

Meat is a waste of time and energy, and also it contains too much fat, plus it tastes too good for fat people with no self-control. All essences and aromas can be created sythesized already, not to mention the "health-benefits" and the claim that modern humans "need meat". Anyone claiming this is just a hedonist. The only problem is that choosing a vegan path is considered an embarassement and a weakness. Also, all people should do this at once or else it's quite futile ("He gets to eat me, why not me as well???" - and similar thoughts will break the wave). If anything could be done, it would be the total abolisment of consumption of meat. Ie. making it equal to cannibalism.

About organic food: I mean actually the opposite. I dont know if such things are produced in Greece, but in Finland we have this label named "Luomu", which means no artificial fertilizers or unnatural methods of production were used in the creation of the food product. No genetic modification is allowed neither. I buy these because I'm an elitist and I dont cherish the thought of unnatural accrual in my body (though it has never been medically proven that they harm you in any way, I just want to be sure). The manmade chemicals and fertilizers are supposedly the factor that is killing the soil on industrial crops. These are not used in the organic method. Right now Luomu holds about 9% of the Finnish food production market, which is a lot for a label that is not advertised in any way.

I truly believe the teaching of people should reach deeper. Some people cannot be allowed to grow up totally free from a certain degree of mental steering. This will create only a breed of anarchists or sharks. I mean only that people should not be allowed to grow to be aggressive and... just evil. Right now these people exist and dominate the kind, I believe.

Sadly not many people want the change at all. Having the right to do nothing is a priviledge we would all be better without.

Hello again :)!

You are a wise person yourself.Personally i havent met many people giving so much thought on ways that could make this world a better place and am happy am given this opportunity through my blog.

It is true , dear Skye, what you said about women.Although i believe that not only women appear to be careless i d say the majority of careless people are women; as well as the majority of criminal minds are men.Being a criminal or being careless is probably the same thing judging by results.Women are victims in our days (now thats a whole new thread). Most of them care for their looks more than anything else and are quite self-satisfied.Because women are widely used as commercial objects , subconsciously they grow defensive against anything that might give them a "bad" look.Unlike men who always appear much more comfortable with themselves .Unfortunately men help this situation by judging too much by the outside of a girl . So a girl gives much more attention to the outside than the inside of her head.Competition is cruel.

Am surprised that even though you live in one of the coolest countries you dont rely on that. You can think outside the box. That is very encouraging and especially for such young person.

Hmm organic food ofcourse. How could i miss that? yes we do have organic products ,only we call them "biological products" .This is practically what my mom and dad decided to do at my village. They grow vegetables with absolutely no chemical substances. After all any chemical liquid that reaches earth ends up to the water we drink.(We use a pump for watering)I agree with you on this matter.

Yes education is probably the most critical and the most important equipment for every person's life.It is the only way and hope for people to resist global enervation. Not only teaching is not getting deeper but that is exactly why most governments supply their people with TV rubbish ,while educational system sucks;to keep younger people on their knees !Who needs education if our "idols" are all about pop music , modelling , scamps in wealthy suits and cocaine .

And finally yes it is sad that many people dont want the change ,mainly becuase most think they re incapable of any change and hence they settle . i dont want my future to be decided .I want to make my own .
